Described by many as Michael Buble meets Josh Groban, Pinnella’s live concerts incorporate his multi-faceted talents, especially his aptitude for creating energetic and emotionally driven performances which have garnered him an extremely diverse legion of fans, ranging from young to old. “The most important thing for me, as a performer, is to make the audience feel just as emotionally involved and connected as I am to the songs I am singing”, Pinnella says, “I’ve always been drawn to big singers, powerful lyrics, and beautiful melodies. Luciano Pavorotti and John Raitt to Tony Bennett, Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban have all had a great influence on my voice and ultimately my overall sound as an artist.” Pinnella, having grew up in New Jersey was extremely influenced by a myriad of different genres, songwriters, & artists. ‘My taste in music is so eclectic which is why you’ll hear elements of rock, jazz, funk, soul, classical, pop, and world embedded into the arrangements of each piece.’
Pinnella began his career professionally at the age of 16 after an audition for Maestro Fr. Alphonse Stephenson & the Orchestra of St. Peter performing with the orchestra on and off throughout his career. Chris went on to pursue music and received his degree from Marymount Manhattan College in NYC. Post college he worked off-Broadway and regional theatre and had the opportunity to portray the title role of Simeon in the New Musical ‘Simeon’s Gift’ which was co-written by icon Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton-Hamilton. Pinnella spent a month with Ms. Andrews and the 6-person cast at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, NY working side by side until the shows premiere. Pinnella also worked alongside Emmy, Oscar winning arranger Ian Fraser and the Tony nominated John Bucchino and Tony nominated director Marcia Milgrom Dodge (B’Way’s Ragtime) on the project. Chris was then called on board by late producer, songwriter Paul O’Neil to be one of the lead singers with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Pinnella toured & recorded with arena rock band throughout North America, in addition to performing in Berlin with the group for New Year’s Eve at the Brandenburg Gate in front of 1 million people. Pinnella received a platinum record for his work on the band’s touring production of ‘The Lost Christmas Eve’.
As a solo artist, Chris has performed sold-out engagments at the 540-seat Algonquin Arts Theatre in New Jersey as well as The Axelrod PAC, The Great Auditorium, The Pollack Theatre, Rahway PAC, The Newton Theatre, House of Independents, The Grunin Center for the Performing Arts, McLoone’s Supper Club & numerous Private, Charity, Fundraising Galas and Events throughout the country. He has also played such prestigious NYC venues as Birdland, The Rainbow Room, The Explorers Club, The Rose Theatre at Jazz! At Lincoln Center, The Cutting Room, & Feinstein’s / 54 Below.
