Classical crossover artist Jay Dref (NY) and Philip Klein (CA) have come together from the West and East coasts of the U.S. to record a soaring, new rendition of Carol Of The Drum (a.k.a. The Little Drummer Boy), releasing it this month as part of the “Feed A Neighbor In Need” campaign to benefit foodbanks globally this Christmas.
Arranged and orchestrated by Klein and sung by Dref, it is a bold, new interpretation that takes the musical composition to epic and inspirational new heights. “This is not The Little Drummer Boy you’re used to and that’s one of the reasons we went with the original title, Carol Of The Drum,” stated Producer Gerald Hartke (NOM Entertainment Group). “In the song, the drum is a symbol for whatever talent you have to offer. Everyone has a drum to play and can do their best with it for the greater good.” Both Dref and Klein are excited for people to hear their first-time collaboration and hope it can make a difference for people that are struggling this Christmas.
“Jay and Phil have used their talents to create a true piece of inspiration, just when we need it,” Hartke added. “And they’ve done it for a global audience, hoping to have a positive impact on our present situation.”
Carol Of The Drum was performed by Dref in English, Spanish, Italian, German and French, and each will be released internationally throughout the month of November. Half of the proceeds from the exclusive iTunes release will go to food banks around the world to help individuals and families in need this holiday season.

I loved “Carol of the Drum” from the moment I started listening to it upon its release November 1st. Jerry Hartke has put together a “marriage made in heaven” with Jay Jref, who has a most beautiful and passionate voice, and Philip Klein whose orchestration is a work of art. I look forward to the Spanish, Italian, French, German and multi-lingual versions of it which will be coming out during the rest of November. DON’T MISS IT!!!
