Classical Reflection Release Till There was you

Identical twin sopranos Naomi and Hannah are releasing a new single for Christmas. The duo, known as Classical Reflection, recorded “Till There Was You” from the musical The Music Man.

Natasha Barbieri: “Till There was you” is such a well-loved musical piece. What was it about this song that made you want to cover it and how is your arrangement different?

Classical Reflection: We actually discovered Katherine Jenkins version of this song & we absolutely loved it. We always think that the melody has a real Christmassy feel to it, especially at the beginning. The lyrics are very beautiful & we really wanted to release a song near to Christmas that was uplifting but could be listened to all year too. We had the song mixed by an engineer that we knew from past music releases called Tom Bullen, he took our recording we did in our lounge and he made it sound as if we were in a studio, so we are very grateful for his expertise!

Natasha Barbieri: The music video is very beautiful and magical looking. Tell us a little bit about the team of people that helped you make this?

Classical Reflection: We loved making the music video, it was filmed in Pentney Abbey which is a beautiful castle looking building. We worked with a fab videographer called Pete Naylor, he produced our music video for I’ll Wait For You a few years ago. He’s great! He had the vision of the two settings one being a cold room and one being a warm room, it felt very Narnia & Game Of Thrones vibes. We are very grateful to everyone involved in creating this video, we hope everyone enjoys it. it’s being released o the 18th of Dec, so go check it out on our YouTube channel.

Natasha Barbieri: What is one new thing you have learned during lockdown?

Classical Reflection: We have been keeping quite busy during lockdown which has been lovely, we feel it’s been really lovely to do lots of online concerts, etc, something that has been keeping us very busy during lockdown is Wally our Cavalier King Charles puppy, he is 6 months old, so he is getting so much bigger and he is the best boy. We are totally biased but he is such a special puppy and we have been loving taking him out for long walks in the frosty mornings.

Natasha Barbieri: There has been so much new music released and concerts produced. What have been some of your favorites to watch and be part of?

Classical Reflection: Yes there has been so much creative work going on in lockdown, we have loved being part of some online and in-person events. Some of our highlights in lockdown have been, The Guide Dogs concert, we loved recording two songs for the online concert, it was a lovely event with lots of celebrity readers & other musicians it raised over £62,000, so a great success! We also loved singing the National Anthem at the National Memorial Arboretum for Remembrance Day too, that was really special to actually be there on the day. It was a really moving service. We were really honoured to be included in the Royal Albert Hall’s Salvation Army’s concert this year too singing Pie Jesu, it was lovely to be part of and we loved watching it live. This week we are performing for a virtual carol concert on the 17th of Dec for Livability alongside Pam Rhodes & Alan Titchmarsh and of course, we are so excited to be part of Classical Crossover’s concert this week too!

Natasha Barbieri:  Are there any new releases planned in 2021?

Classical Reflection: We are definitely going to be bringing out new music for 2021, we love recording singles while being in lockdown because we can still do this from our home, which has been so great. So keep your eyes pealed for that. We are also going to be releasing an exciting new single with composer Thomas Hewitt, he is a really amazing writer who has written for John Rutter as well as being a regular on Classic FM so we can’t wait!
