Crossover Music Magazine has become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The new status means the magazine can prioritize building a vibrant community around the growing crossover music genre.
From the outset, CMM has served as a platform for artists whose voices often go unheard by mainstream music outlets. While we have been honored to feature globally recognized names (including Sarah Brightman, Il Divo, and Celtic Woman), our primary commitment has always been to independent artists. Through initiatives such as our annual Star competition and with the support of paid advertising and our Patreon community, we have consistently reinvested in the growth of the crossover community.
Our transition to non-profit status allows us to expand that mission. We remain dedicated to elevating artists through editorial coverage and audience-building, and we also look ahead to developing practical resources and educational opportunities. As a relatively new field within the music industry, classical crossover lacks the formal training pathways found in opera, Broadway, or Jazz. CMM intends to help bridge that gap by offering tools and guidance for emerging artists.
Natasha Barbieri, Editor of Crossover Music Magazine, said: “This is the next step in our growth as a magazine that has spent years dedicating its pages to innovative and interesting artists, big and small. Our new status will enable us to continue to promote artists and also help us tackle issues that matter most to the community we support.
I’m excited about our new chapter, and I look forward to continuing our work in growing the community.”

The new status introduces new volunteer directors to the magazine to help with building a successful non-profit venture. Matthew Chapman and Joanna Forrest both bring knowledge of non-profit organisations, partnerships, and industry-specific experience to guide the magazine in its next evolution.
As part of this transition, we will be seeking partnerships with like-minded organizations globally that can help us strengthen the growing genre. Anyone interested should get in touch by emailing us at contact@crossovermusicmagazine.com
